Breeding and maintenance of pheasant chicks

Breeding and maintenance of pheasant chicks

Necessary conditions for raising and keeping pheasant chicks
Keeping day-old pheasant chicks until the age of one month is the most sensitive stage of pheasant breeding. If the pheasant chick does not reach the age of one month, it rarely gets sick and adapts to the environmental conditions very quickly. But in order to keep pheasant chicks until the age of 3-4 weeks and prevent losses, we need a detailed planning. In the following, we describe the conditions for keeping one-day-old pheasant chicks.

The place where the chickens are kept
Keeping pheasant chicks is the same as other day-old chicks and there is only a slight difference in the way they are fed. At first, a closed and clean environment with warm temperature and proper ventilation should be provided for the chickens. Before transferring the chickens to the storage place, the hall should be disinfected and ready for the chickens to enter. Yolk infection disease in newborn chickens should be taken very seriously, and for this purpose it is necessary to keep the room warm and clean.

The heat required by pheasants and how to provide it

The body temperature regulation system of immature chickens is not developed and they are not able to regulate their body temperature against the air outside the incubator, so the proper temperature regulation of the place where the chickens live during the breeding period is of particular importance. For this purpose, it is necessary to bring the room temperature to the optimal level before the chickens enter.

Warming of chicks is done naturally by the mother bird. In the artificial method, the heating of the chickens is done by the artificial mother lamp. In order for the chickens not to be too far away from the heat source (artificial mother), the heating devices should be fenced. The fence is installed at a distance of 80 to 90 cm from the heating device in a circle and with a height of half a meter. The purpose of creating a fence in the shape of a circle is to prevent the accumulation of chickens on each other. In square or rectangular fences, the chickens are gathered together in the corners and there is a possibility of suffocation of the chickens.

Cardboard plastic can be used to create these guards. The temperature under the lamp should be 35 degrees and around the lamp will be close to 30 degrees. The behavior of the chickens is the best indication for the appropriateness of the temperature of the room, so that through the way the chickens are spread in the area of their bed, the temperature of the place where the chickens are raised can be found, which is as follows.

If the chickens are wide and lively on the level of the hall around the edge of the artificial mother, this is a sign of the appropriate temperature of the hall.

On the contrary, if the chicks are all gathered under the mother and make noise, this means that the air in the room is cold and the temperature should be increased to the necessary level.

If the chicks are completely away from the artificial mother, it is a sign that the air in the room is too hot and the temperature should be reduced.
